Hunter Program
_______________
New to Paradigm Sporthorse is the Hunter Program. While our focus in competition has always been primarily geared towards dressage, the training program has often included work over fences. In response to client demand, we are now offering services geared to producing horses that are competitive in the hunter arena.
The goal of this program is to go back to the root of what the hunter discipline initially intended----to develop horses that were steady, well trained, and an enjoyable ride for the non-pro rider. Our approach takes the time necessary to develop a horse that is both mentally and physically able to work with his rider without the use of sedatives or gimmicks.

We encourage owners to take an active role in their horse's care and training. It is our philosophy that a rider's chances of success are increased when they have a relationship with their mount that extends beyond the time spent in the saddle. To this end, our riders groom and tack their own horses, and are encouraged to have a direct role in their horse's health management. Behavioral problems are avoided by ensuring the horse has the bodywork necessary to keep him comfortable in his work, proper saddle fit, and cross training to keep his mind fresh and willing. We have had great success working with horses that have behavioral problems such as rushing, stopping, bucking, etc. with this approach. Our horses and riders develop the tools necessary to ride clean courses by having and understanding the aids needed to ensure a successful round-----and their success if a byproduct of skill...not luck!
Typically the horses in the program have 1-2 jumping lessons per week, 1 day hacking out of the arena, 3 days of flat schooling.
Our riders are participating in on and off site jumping clinics with well regarded clinicians, schooling shows, and rated shows.
If you are ready for a new approach to training your hunter please give us a call and see whether this is a good choice for you and your horse!
